Marie Simonon is a self-taught artist who lives close to the jungle at the South-West Pacific coast in Costa Rica. Her mediums are Acrylics and Vitrail. She expresses the natural beauty of flora and fauna with a very detailed and dramatic style.
Marie started exploring painting with watercolours during a stay at the “Lake of the Woods” area in Canada and completed her Orchid collection. Later, looking for another medium, she was invited by a friend to paint a window. From there on she started painting big windows in all sizes and completed many different projects like a project of seven windows for the church “El Santuario del Cristo de la Divina Misericordia” in Morazán – Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica.
Marie was born and raised in Belgium. She has lived in Spain and Germany and came to live in Costa Rica in 1998. Her work has been exhibited and sold in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and the United States.
